We’re thinking SUMMER at The Connection, a community-based nonprofit organization in Summit, NJ. Our summer camp is committed to providing campers with excellent recreational, educational, and fun experiences while creating a memorable summer in a physically and emotionally safe environment. We are accredited by the ACA (American Camp Association).

The Connection is currently recruiting for 9 great weeks of summer camp employment June 23 – August 22.

The following positions are available this summer:

CounselorAquaticsVolunteer

Come be part of The Connection’s excellent summer camp program! We are currently looking for Summer Camp Counselors to join us.

As a Camp Counselor you will be responsible for leading an assigned group of children enrolled in the summer camp program. You will ensure each camper has a fun experience in a physically and emotionally safe environment.

We currently have openings:

  • Week 1: 6/23-6/27
  • Week 2: 6/30-7/03
  • Week 3: 7/07-7/11
  • Week 4: 7/14-7/18
  • Week 5: 7/21-7/25
  • Week 6: 7/28-8/01
  • Week 7: 8/04-8/08
  • Week 8: 8/11-8/15
  • Week 9: 8/18-8/22

As a camp counselor you can opt to work a half day – mornings or afternoons, or a full day.

  • Morning counselors: 8:15AM – 1:15PM
  • Afternoon counselors: 12:15PM – 4:15PM
  • Full-day counselors: 8:15AM – 4:15PM
Compensation

We offer a competitive wage based on experience.

Lifeguard

The Connection in Summit is seeking Lifeguards to join our team. In this position you will:

  • Monitor swimming areas and aids and protection to users of the pool and aquatic facility
  • Ensure the safety of patrons of the aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies as a lifeguard.
  • Supervise and guard the pool and aquatic facility and ensures participants adhere to all Connection aquatic guidelines and procedures.
  • Always presents professional appearance and attitude and maintains a high standard of customer service.
Requirements
  • Lifeguard Certification
  • First Aid and CPR certified
  • Must be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively.
Hours

9am – 4pm

Compensation

$16.00 per hour

  • Free Lifeguard/CPR/AED recertification for current employees
CIT Volunteers (Counselors in Training) The role of the CIT is to assist counselors during the camp day and act as a role model for children enrolled in the summer camp program to create a positive and safe environment.

  • Age Requirement: 14-15 years old
  • Commitment: We ask for a 4-week commitment for our CIT program
