Pathways is thrilled to share that, thanks to the generosity of Overlook Foundation and Stad’s Crabfest, the Pathways Cooks program can continue to provide meals and groceries to women with cancer and their families in our service area when they need it most. The Overlook Foundation’s $10,000 grant to Pathways Cooks will be used to provide nutrient-rich, delicious meals to women undergoing cancer treatment and their families this fall, winter, and spring. Stad’s Crabfest’s donation of $3,500 to Pathways Cooks recently allowed 24 women with cancer and family members to purchase meals and groceries in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Nothing can better describe the impact of this support better than the words of one recipient, Natasha:
“I’m writing to express my gratitude for your unexpected gift. Your generosity and kindness are deeply appreciated. I will use your check to cover three weeks of groceries – incredible. I am of course grateful to the good people at Stad’s Crabfest as well. Cancer has taught me myriad things, many of which I would have preferred not to learn. This isn’t one of those.
Like many people, I am fiercely independent, far more comfortable hanging out on the giving end of kindness . Cancer has taught me that self-sufficiency is an illusion, that there are far more kind strangers in the world than I had ever imagined, and the hardest lesson that I’m fortunate to continue to practice – that it is possible to accept help with humility and grace and still hold on to my self-esteem.
Thank you so much for this gift, and for the work you do every day.”
Overlook Foundation offers grant funding to non-profit organizations for health-related initiatives in the Overlook Medical Center service area.
Stad’s Crabfest Inc. is a New Jersey nonprofit corporation devoted to raising awareness and enhancing the quality of life of those affected by cancer, focusing on the journey from diagnosis through resolution.
We are truly grateful to grantors and donors like Overlook Foundation, Stad’s Crabfest, and individuals who make it possible for Pathways Cooks to support women like Natasha and their families.
