Letter to The Connection Membership

Dear Members of the Connection Community,

These are extraordinary times filled with uncertainty for us all. Despite these challenges and ambiguity, our physical distance cannot stop community. For nearly 100 years, The Connection has been a very special place for people just like you to be welcomed, supported, and encouraged to better themselves and our community at large. Regardless of current circumstances, we remain as committed as ever to this mission–and to you.

As a place that has always prioritized personal connections, we are striving for ways to stay socially connected while remaining physically distant. Until we are able to reopen our doors, we are hard at work providing our programs in entirely new ways. We now have a video library of fitness and wellness classes you can access anytime. We add to this often with opportunities such as live Zumba classes taught by your beloved fitness instructors. Our Youth Programs team has created videos and blogs with resources for children, so they can stay active and connected with their instructors and mentors. We have been assisting our home-bound and at-risk members to help them receive the services they might need to manage. We are exploring ways to continue our English as a Second Language classes.

We sincerely appreciate your support as we continue this important work. As vital as it is for our building to remain closed to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, it is especially challenging for us as a nonprofit, mission-driven organization which depends on program fees to provide its services. Although our building is closed, we continue to have operational and employee expenses.

We are deeply touched by those of you who have expressed an interest in supporting us during this unprecedented time. Click here If you would like to make a one-time contribution. However we recognize the virus may have presented financial hardship for some. Therefore, we want to work with you and are providing a variety of options regarding your membership. Please click the appropriate circles in the form below and then click submit. If you have any questions regarding your membership or classes, please contact Angela Johnson.

We will continue communicating separately with the families of youth participating in preschool, before/after school, and our dance and gymnastic teams.

For many reasons, I so look forward to the day when our doors reopen and we have the opportunity to welcome you all back into our building and programs. We are incredibly grateful you remain committed to our community while we respond and recover, and work hard so The Connection will always be here for you.

As always, we wish you health and wellness,

Wendy Graeb and The Connection Team
