Christina Carosella, Head Preschool Teacher
It is mid –February and no better time to reflect on the past 6 months of preschool than on our 100th day of school!
The uncertainty of the first days of school have changed to excitement, curiosity, and confidence. One of my favorite parts of the day is greeting the smiling faces filled with wonder each morning and listening to the chit-chat of friendships forming.
The children have taken ownership of their classroom and the daily routine. They are able to predict the details of the day and they can build on each days learning.
Our preschoolers have learned what it means to be “in school”, how to follow the rules and share, but they have also learned how to be a friend; how to be a kind and loving member of a community. They’ve learned how to have empathy for each other.
Yes, the children are learning letters and sounds and simple math and science, but they are also learning how to comfort a sad friend and how to include even reluctant friends in play. They are learning how to communicate with each other in order to problem solve.
We have had an incredible 6 months of learning and I can’t wait to see how their minds continue to develop and grow through the rest of the year.
This is also the time of year we begin to plan for our new friends who will join us for the 2017/2018 school year. Registration for our upcoming 2017/2018 Connection Preschool year begins March 1, 2017! Click here for more information and registration forms.
