Did you know that in 1983, President Ronald Reagan proclaimed February 11th as the first National Inventors’ Day in the United States? Now, every year on February 11th (chosen because it’s Thomas Edison’s birthday), we are reminded to recognize the enormous contribution that inventors make to the nation and the world!

So, this Saturday, celebrate National Inventors’ Day! If you have little ones, read to them: “Oh, the Things They Invented!: All About Great Inventors” (Cat in the Hat’s Learning Library).  Then dump your recyclables onto the floor, grab the tape, and join your kids in inventing! Thinking without the limitations of “right”, “wrong”, or “possible” is the first step to encouraging inventors, young and old.
