Summer is officially over and we are back in the swing of things for the fall! Here at The Connection we are devoted to helping you put your health first, so we have a lot of workshops and events planned to get you moving!
First up, join our Fitness Center staff as we go for a light run or brisk walk through Briant Park on Saturday, October 1st. Forget the coffee, nothing helps give you that extra morning boost like some early morning cardio! We will meet at 8:45AM under the green shed facing Springfield Avenue. Our Fitness Center organizes these run/walks monthly…take advantage of this beautiful weather and exercise outside while you still can!
Also on October 1st, we have Part I of the Food and Nutrition workshop. Low carb, Low Fat, Paleo, DASH, Mediterranean, Raw foods, No White Food, Gluten Free… What “diets” do we follow, if any? Why are there so many different eggs in the food store and which one am I supposed to buy?? Luckily we have Certified Dietitian, Karin Von Zelowitz to teach us about nutrition Facts vs. Fads.
Karin will back for Part II of the Food and Nutrition workshop series on October 15th to make meal planning and preparation less stressful and more delicious! Organize your kitchen, menu options, and shopping lists to make meal prep a breeze.
Let your inner star shine at our Broadway Sampler workshop series! Greta Martin will be taking students on a tour of Broadway as she teaches a dance from a different show each week of this 3-part series. We will start off with “Hello Dolly” on October 8th, followed by a routine from “The Color Purple” on October 15th, and finishing up with a dance from the hit “Hamilton” on October 22nd. Come to one, two or all three!
Finally, we will be wrapping up October with a Falun Gong workshop on the 29th. What is Falun Gong you might ask? It is a Chinese spiritual practice that combines mental meditation and physical exercises with a philosophy that emphasizes morality and the cultivation of virtue. Through the practices of meditation with slow-moving gentle exercises, it cultivates improved mind and body.
All of our workshops are free and open to the public, so grab a buddy and try something new! Register at the Front Desk or email info@theconnectiononline.org.
