The Connection

The Connection has been providing memorable summer camp experiences to children for over 30 years and has always been committed to ensuring that all kids have access to camp, regardless of their economic circumstances.  This year has been unforgettable in many ways, but it will be distinctly remembered thanks to those who offered help when and where it was needed. One of those people, Mr. Richard Orenstein, on behalf of The Daniel E. Offutt III Charitable

Trust, helped to steward vital funds that will provide wonderful opportunities for children and critical financial support for their families.

The Trust continues its support of The Connection in 2021 with a second $100k grant. The majority of the contribution will provide for a lobby refresh to appropriately welcome members when The Connection is permitted to fully reopen, a portion will fund racial justice workshops and trainings, and $30k earmarked to provide financial assistance for children attending The Connection’s Summer Camp.

“We are deeply grateful to Mr. Orenstein and the Trust for continuing to believe in our mission and work, and counting us among their partners,” remarks Wendy Graeb, Connection Executive Director.  “This tremendous vote of confidence alongside the financial assistance will help to see us all through this trying time and ensure our exceptional summer camp will remain open to all.”

The Connection offers a wide array of camp choices for children ages 3 and up including a traditional day camp as well as numerous specialty camps such as gymnastics, sports, performing arts, warrior, and more.   The 2021 camp season begins on June 21 and runs through August 20^th.  Summer Camp scholarship application packets and details can be found on The Connection’s Summer Camp website. Completed applications are accepted in the order in which they are received with preference to first-time applicants, and to working parents and residents of Summit, New Providence, and Berkeley Heights.
