It has never been more important to support our community than right now. The Connection’s Giving Day creates an opportunity for members and friends to come together to meet critical needs and showcase the power of our community–in just one day. Typically we hold Giving Day alongside #GivingTuesday. This year and moving forward, it will be held on 9/22; both as a nod to 1922, the year of The Connection’s founding—and also because it has become crucial to raise immediate funds to support our shared community.
“This pandemic has severely compromised children’s social, physical, and educational connections,” emphasizes Board Chairwoman Maria Williams. “It has never been more important than it is now for families to have access to resources which support emotional wellness, academic equity, and financial stability—all of which The Connection has a 25-year history of providing in our AfterSchool and Preschool Programs.”
Our Day of Giving will prioritize this support through seeking your gifts to help fund:
- Preschool and After School Scholarships
Scholarships are essential for the ability to provide equitable opportunities and this vital service to all with need. Donations will help provide $128,000 in financial assistance to children and working families participating in The Connection’s Preschool and After School Programs. - Fund the buses
Access to The Connection’s After School Programs literally depends on safe, reliable, and licensed transportation to and from the elementary schools and primary centers. Transportation requirements mandated by the State of New Jersey necessitated the purchase of two new 24-passenger buses this year at a cost of $131,000. Your contribution will ensure our After School students keep moving forward - The Connection Annual Fund
Unrestricted gifts to The Connection’s annual fund continues our long history of impact and opportunity. Contributions to this fund ensure service and resources at a time when there is more need than ever.

The annual fundraising efforts directly support men, women, and children participating in community services programs, and benefiting from the Scholarship Fund.
