The Connection is pleased to share that our Pathways Women’s Cancer Support program has been awarded a $7,500 grant from The Tutu Project™, an initiative of The Carey Foundation. The grant will benefit breast cancer patients who receive financial relief from the Pathways Financial Assistance Fund.

The Tutu Project™ is a breast cancer nonprofit that raises money to support those in need as they receive treatment and manage their diagnosis.

In 2003, Bob and Linda Carey were facing their own medical crisis. Linda was diagnosed with breast cancer. To cheer her up, her photographer husband Bob started taking pictures of himself in various locations wearing only a tutu. This playful and creative solution to lifting his wife’s spirits during treatment quickly went viral and morphed into The Tutu Project™. Since then, The Tutu Project™ has raised thousands of dollars to help those in need through grants to programs like Pathways Women’s Cancer Support.

Pathways, a program of The Connection, provides support to women with cancer or a history of cancer on a very personal and direct level. When a woman is diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment, she may be faced with the inability to work and the crippling financial crisis which ensues. Rent, medical, utility, and other bills begin to mount. Pathways does its part to help alleviate some of the burden. The Pathways Financial Assistance Fund will pay one or more bills on behalf of an underserved woman who qualifies under the program. For over 25 years, Pathways has created an oasis of hope for women with cancer, offering support, wellness, and educational programs, all free-of-charge.
